The Fruit Shack - second thing after site access. Good place to get out of the rain, sleep, stage equipment….. This was a 12x12 platform later covered with a roof. None of the boards were really cut. The idea being this 12’ material could be re used for the cabin build. Screws were used to aid in disassembly. This project occurred on 11-30-2018. A metal roof was added on Xmas weekend the following month.
Russ clearing the road with leaf blower. Picture taken from van. Almost stuck in place….
This is the start of the deck. This became the only flat spot on the site.
The tailgate tents don’t really work, maybe for sun, but they really don’t shed rain very well.
December 25th, 2018 The tailgate tent idea did not work - began construction of roof.
Under Construction, the tarps really help to stop the wind at sitting and sleeping level.
Kevin, one of the first workers.
Completed. We added the front shed roof, and it was immediately dubbed the “the Fruit Shack”
We are moving the Fruit Shack to make room for parking. Only one worker this time. The shack was lifted by Russ and 2x6’s were attached. Trying to create a “sled” The shack was braced off with 2x4’s and such to add stability. This project occurred November 28 and 29. Coincidentally - Russ was here exactly 7 yrs ago this weekend to build the deck for this.
Notice the worker using his machine to lift and gradually work the shack down the hill to the other side of the tree.
The worker has his machine sitting where the Fruit Shack used to be. Notice its new location further down the hill.
Russ running the machine down the drive, re gradig the parking area now that the shack has been moved. Notice the new attachment.
This was best idea. With the shack moved back now plenty of parking for three large trucks. The idea being you can pull up to cabin, off load, and then back into parking area. To exit - drive straight out !
