Conclusion

Often asked - when are you going to finish? I don’t know if anyone can ever say “completely done!” However - it dawned on me these past few weeks, that perhaps something had changed with the build. In November of 2025, furniture was moved in. Nice stuff too, not job site furniture! All the sudden i realize i have been coming to the cabin simply to hang out, not work. Now its about watching DVD’s, canoeing almost every evening, eating oven meals, unlimited hot water…. I would plan for one nite, and stay for three. Never leaving. Granted there are some things still needed, some shelves, curtains, a dresser…. And i still have to order the mini split system. But if i had to put a timeline on it, id say it took right at seven years to build this. Ironically it started with a 12x12 sleeping platform in Nov 2018. Seven years to the date, we moved that 30 ft back for parking and furniture was moved in. At times - i cant explain it - feeling like a guest there, its a good thing. My only regret i wish i had journaled this experience. Not just material lists, tracking costs on a spread sheet and photos, but wish i had kept a journal. A story. Simple things, at times this build was pure magic. At times, towards the end, not so much. I feel the magic has returned. This has been a great chapter.
